THE BOILER FAULT?
Here is a repair carried out on a potterton performa last week.
The boiler was locking out leaving the customer with no hot water or heating.
On this particular boiler the fault code was 'flashing 60' on the front.
The fault was quickly diagnosed that the pump inside the boiler was faulty.
THE CAUSE?
As you can see in the photo there is a lot of black sludge from where the pump was taken from.
This boiler was not fitted with a magnetic filter by the installer allowing the sludge build up to enter the boiler and all in components.
eventually the pump was over worked causing it to fail.
THE SOLUTION?
A new pump was supplied and fitted within a couple of hours, leaving a heathy working boiler and a 1 year warranty on the part.
After explaining the problem and its cause, the customer took our advice and had a filter supplied and fitted that same day!
